Malay Activities Presented to the Eyes of the World

Fuchun Community Centre MAEC

creates own website

By Fuad Ibrahim

Presenting Malay grassroots activities of community centres

to the eyes of the world.

That is the hope of the Malay Activity

Executive Commitee of Fuchun

Community Centre when it produces

its own website.

Fuchun MAEC, which is active in

Marsiling Constituency, is the first

MAEC to have such a website.

Besides enhancing the image of

MAEC, the website is meant to attract more Marsiling residents to participate in its activities.

The website located at

http//go.to/fuchuncc_maec

was first published in May this year.

The Chairman of Fuchun CC MAEC, Mr. Yahya Hamid, said that the website, called Persada Masyarakat,  is produced akin to an internet newsletter.

Besides including news on MAEC's activities, it also contains dairy of activities and a foreword by the Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC, Mr Hawazi Daipi.

The Malay/Muslim community  may register on-line to participate in the MAEC's activities.

Most of the contents in the website are currently in Malay but Mr. Yahya plans to make it bilingual in future.

"We wish to emphasise the image of MAEC as progressive, in line with the development in technology today. We do not wish to be an organisation which is left behind," said Mr. Yahya, a tutor,  43 years old.

The owner of a company, tutors-central.com , creates the website himself.

Commenting on the website, the Chairman of the People's Association Co-ordinating Council for Malay Activities (Mesra), Mr. Mohamed Naim Daipi, said: "Such a website will allow the Malay/Muslim community to exchange opinions and experiences.

"We hope efforts such as this will be extended to all MAECs."

"If this can be done, we will be able to reach out to more Malays here," he added.
